62nd Annual Ice Cream Social Aug. 28
Hinsdale – AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale and the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Junior Board will host its 62nd Annual Ice Cream Social from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 in Burlington Park in downtown Hinsdale.
Admission is free, as well as the ice cream. Other food and beverages are available for a fee. There will also be live entertainment and games.
“Each year we hear stories about how this annual event tops off the summer’s activities,” said Susan King, executive director of the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation. “We take pride in hosting an event that provides our community with family entertainment while educating them on important health issues.”
Returning family fun includes a cake walk, jump and bounce and a Teddy Bear clinic sponsored by AMITA Health Hinsdale’s Koplin Emergency & Trauma Center. Children will be able to take home a teddy bear with any pretend bumps or bruises cured.
The ice cream social will also host healthy living information at booths throughout the park. The Hinsdale Fire and Police Departments will be on hand with equipment, fire trucks, child fingerprinting opportunities and fatal vision goggles to demonstrate the dangers of impaired drivers. There will also be several children’s games and prizes. Some of the activities will be offered at a fee.
“We see the annual ice cream social as another opportunity to share our vision with our community as we step into this exciting growth phase,” said Michael J. Goebel, chief executive officer of AMITA Health Hinsdale. “We are truly thankful that our dedicated team of Junior Board members are able to put together such a family-focused event.”
